This bench is made from the piece that was left over off of a large slab of oak that we used to make a mantle. It would have been easy to chop this wood up and turn it into a number of small things or even just use it for scrap wood in the workshop because of only having 1 live edge or the big knot in the middle of it. But we decided to embrace the things that could be a detriment and find the one thing that it felt like it was made for, sitting against a wall and being a safe place to rest.
